This is not a blog about the latest fashion trends

If I could go back in time I would at least save one piece of clothes for every phase of my life I have been in. It’s funny that a lot of clothes that I used to wear when I was younger I now see my daughter wearing. Like cargo pants and boot cut jeans, cut off shorts, adidas jackets. It’s like history of fashion is repeating.

This is not a blog about the latest fashion trends, but about the different styles of clothing throughout the years that we have experienced. About the way you dress develops and changes with every phase you go through in life.

I think I was around 11/12 years old when I became more aware of how I looked. At that time I liked to wear jeans, not skinny but also not baggy, with Nike Air Max and a track jacket.

Of course I had t-shirts and hoodies of the Backstreet Boys and I wore them as a loyal and proud fan”

And then followed the madness around MAG shoes. I think at one point I had 3 different kinds of MAG shoes. I still remember that they felt really comfortable. They still sell them, so maybe one day I will purchase a pair, even if it’s only for the nostalgic feeling.

In my teenage years I was (and still am) a big fan of the Backstreet Boys. Brian Littrell was (and still is :))my favorite Backstreet Boy. My room was filled with posters of the Backstreet Boys and of Brian. Of course I had t-shirts and hoodies of the Backstreet Boys and I wore them as a loyal and proud fan.

When I was around 16/17 years old I started to feel I had to dress more ladylike. Before that I was more of a tomboy.  I started going out for the night with friends, to movies and to clubs and bars. And you also want to look nice for your crush. Like most of us I had (a lot) insecurities at that age. But now I had my high heels, nice boots, skinny jeans, fancy dresses and skirts, fancy jewelry and nice looking tops to hide my insecurities. And this style stayed for many years. It started with hiding my insecurities and then it became a part of me and how I liked to dress.

When I had my burn out and I was working on finding my true colors, I started to feel that tomboy inside of me coming back. And that felt really good. Slowly I started to let go of the high heels and I started to develop a new way of dressing that fitted more with who I am.

Don’t dress to impress anymore

“I don’t need to dress to impress anymore. I dress as I am”

I still have one pair of high heels and a few fancy dresses  that I wear during date night or special occasions.

So in daily life I’m back with my jeans and Nike’s again. I have one pair and it’s my favorite. I like to wear nice but comfortable fitting clothes and this doesn’t mean I’m in my joggers all day :). And I also love my Uggs. They are just so comfortable, that why I have more then when pair…. :). I don’t need to dress to impress anymore. I dress as I am.

I find it very interesting and nice to see that the way you dress often reflects on how you see yourself and how this image of you develops throughout the years. And you can see that whole process in your photo albums :).
